D’Lisa Simmons, ’85 BBA, is governor of the Rotary International District 5890 for the rotary centennial year, 2004-05. She is the district’s first female governor. Simmons is also an attorney.

Scott Marler, ’96 BA, is assistant editor of The Journal of Southern History. His article, “Fables of the Reconstruction: Reconstruction of the Fables,” was published in The Journal of the Historical Society.
Carolyn Bardin, ’97 BA, joined the history faculty of Miller Intermediate School in Pasadena ISD. She was also named the 2004 History Alumni of the Year by the UHCL history department in the School of Human Sciences and Humanities.

Mike Fincke, ’01 MS, achieved his first space flight on the Expedition 9 in April. The NASA astronaut served as flight engineer and science officer for a six-month mission on the international space station.

Patti Nesrsta, ’02 MS, is a teacher at Clear Brook High School. She teaches Community-Oriented Science and Mathematics Opportunities for Students, a program that introduces students to the information technology, petrochemical, aerospace and biomedical fields. Nesrsta wrote the curriculum for COSMOS’ information technology and aerospace components.
