In 1995 the University of Houston-Clear Lake established the practice of convocation under the leadership of Dr. Edward J. Hayes, Senior Vice President and Provost.  Convocation at UHCL is a celebration of the university’s progress and an opportunity for the university community to discuss our plans for the future and issues of common interest.  The first convocation was held in September1995 and was planned and implemented by a small group of faculty and university administrators.
