UHCL recognizes the important role of the media in the fulfillment of our mission. Faculty and staff are encouraged to interact with the news media regarding their areas of expertise.
The Office of Communications is officially designated as the university liaison with all news media and is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing a program of media relations for the university.
Media Representative Contact: When contacted or approached by a representative of the news media regarding an official matter internal to the university, or a matter of institutional policy, UHCL employees should immediately notify the Office of Communications at (281) 283-2015. If a news photographer or reporter is observed on campus, immediately notify the Office of Communications.
Media News Releases: Faculty, staff and students should submit items with potential for attracting attention from the news media to the Office of Communications at least three weeks in advance of events and activities. More lead time may be necessary, depending on the nature of the item and the media outlets that are targeted (i.e., monthly publications).
