Masters of Science in Mathematics
Masters of Science in Mathematics
The graduate plan in Mathematical Sciences leads to the Master of Science (MS) degree. This degree is designed to prepare the student for a career in industry or education. It also prepares the student for further advanced study in mathematics, statistics, operations research or other mathematically based disciplines. The course work combines classical mathematics and applied mathematics. The University of Houston-Clear Lake also offers a Master of Science in Statistics, the two programs sharing courses and faculty.
Careers that require a very strong background in mathematics are listed as the five best job areas, namely Computer System Analyst, Computer Programmer, Actuary, Software Engineer and Mathematician. University of Houston-Clear Lake has a strong record of Master of Science in Mathematics graduates employed in local community colleges.

All UHCL scholarships for current and continuing students require an achievement list AND a personal statement. You must upload both of these documents for each scholarship for which you apply. You may upload the same list and essay each time.

Scholarships that list financial need as a criterion require an online 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents qualify for financial need based scholarships.

Attention non-resident students! Competitive scholarship waivers will NOT be available for this process. Non-resident tuition will NOT be waived for recipients of this spring and summer 2015 scholarship competition.
