Welcome to the Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Information Technology (BAS-IT) program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. The School of Science and Computer Engineering (SCE) hosts the BAS-IT program.
A BAS in IT emphasizes both theory and hands-on application. BAS-IT prepares students in a variety of careers such as systems administrator, network administrator, computer specialist, database manager, computer technician, computer security manager, computer systems manager, etc. within commercial, industrial, educational and government institutions. Graduates will be ready to design, implement and maintain the information technology infrastructure used in business management.
The objectives of the program are:
To advance the career of professionals holding an associates degree in information technology or a related field.
To help information technology professionals learn about latest developments in their field.
To address the shortage of information technology workers in the UHCL service area.
With a BAS IT degree from UHCL, the world is your technological oyster. Graduates will have a better chance of getting a technical, administration or managerial position in information technology. Opportunities for careers in in systems and network administrations, technical management, technical support, website development, etc. have increased steadily. And these opportunities exist in the commercial, industrial, educational and governmental sectors.
UHCL alumni blend their solid technical knowledge with practical, hands-on training. Their training qualifies them for work in various technical and management positions developing, operating, maintaining and support information technology infrastructure.
