Apply for Admission
| Follow the steps listed below to apply to the Software Engineering MS program. |
| |
| Go to the Application for Admissions Instruction website. This site lists the information you need to gather before you begin applying. Then, fill out the online application. This application allows you to specify your program area if you want to pursue your degree online. If you are only going to take online classes, please indicate that on your application. After you have applied, the UHCL Office of Admissions will send you an acknowledgement letter with an admission documentation checklist. The letter also contains your student ID and password for access to UHCL E-Services. E-Services lets you track your admission status and monitor the progress of your application. Once you are admitted, E-Services allows you to register for classes and check your grades. |
| |
| When your application file is complete, the Office of Admissions evaluates your transcripts and forwards the entire application package to the advising office of the School of Science and Computer Engineering (SCE). | |
| |
| The School's Advising Office will further review your transcripts for transfer hours, program foundation courses completed, GPA, and GRE. The School's Advising Office considers your application file complete if it must contains your GRE scores and all transcripts. Once the file is complete, it goes to the SWEN admissions committee for admission review. |
| |
| Next, the Software Engineering Admission Committee reviews the application package. Your completed application file undergoes evaluation and review. It may take two weeks before you receive a letter reporting your acceptance into the program. |
| |
| Candidates accepted into the UHCL Software Engineering Program receive a letter from SCE Academic Advising notifying them of their assigned faculty advisor. Contact your faculty advisor during your first semester to fill out a Candidate Plan of Study (CPS). You and your faculty advisor will use the CPS to detail all degree requirements and approved electives and indicate if you will pursue the capstone or thesis option. You will need to email or call your faculty advisor to make an appointment to create the CPS. The CPS advising can take place in person, or via phone and e-mail. You can change your CPS after you file it by consulting with your advisor and making approved changes to your degree plan. |
