An SCE Systems Specialist (housed in the UHCL campus Delta Building) maintains and upgrades the computing laboratories every year. Students may use either of two computer labs, the Windows NT workstation lab in Delta D119, or the advanced UNIX workstation lab in Delta D158. SCE can partition each of these two labs to host up to 30 students at assigned workstations. Students also have access to two smaller labs, a telecommunication lab in D133 and a robotics lab in D125. University Computing and Telecommunications (UCT) maintains additional computing laboratories for the entire student population.

5. Rational Suite (Rup, RequisitePro, ClearQuest, SoDA)
   - Rational Suite tailors its tools for software engineering students. Students can use this software to work individually or as a team to understand the software engineering process. Each Suite edition contains team-unifying tools and tools designed for specific individual users.  

		Rational Unified Process Rational Unified Process, an online collection of software best practices, guide the student team through software development. Provides guidelines, templates, and Tool Mentors (instructions for applying the guidelines to specific Rational tools) for each phase of the software engineering development lifecycle.
		Rational Requisite Pro Rational Requisite Pro helps individual students and teams prioritize, track, and control changing project requirements.
		Rational ClearQuest Rational Clear Quest manages every type of change activity associated with software development, including enhancement requests, defect reports, and documentation modifications.
		Rational SoDA Rational SoDA automatically generates project documents. It extracts information from files students produce during project development, including source code and Rational tools file. It formats the information into predefined templates. SoDA merges with Microsoft Word for easy use and customization.

8. Rational Rose (Enterprise)
   - Enables visual modeling of architectures and components using the industry-standard Unified Modeling Language (UML). It automatically implements the framework of programmer’s code in Microsoft VisualStudio. It lets the student automate the process of maintaining consistency between a model and its implementation.

		Rational Purify Pinpoints run-time errors and memory leaks in Visual C++ application code.
		Rational Visual PureCoverage Identifies exercised and unexercised parts of a student’s program. Reveals testing gaps so a student can prevent untested application code from reaching student users.
		Rational Visual Quantify Profiles student applications to help them identify performance bottlenecks in their code.

9. Rational Suite TestStudio
   - Designed for quality engineers. It contains the team-unifying tools:

A quality engineer's role is to:

• Ensure that software meets all requirements
• Create, manage, and execute tests
• Report results and verify fixes

		Rational Robot Helps with functional testing by automating record and playback of test scripts. Allows the student to write, organize, and run test suites, and to capture and analyze the results.
		Rational Test Factory Automates testing by combining automatic test generation with source-code coverage analysis. Tests an entire application, including all GUI features and all lines of source code.
		Rational Purify Pinpoints run-time errors and memory leaks in Visual C++ application code.
		Rational Visual PureCoverage Identifies which parts of the students program have and have not been exercised. Exposes testing gaps so the student can prevent untested application code from reaching their users.
