Academic and Faculty Advisors of the Chemistry Program
Every undergraduate student has two advisors: an academic advisor and a faculty advisor. Both advisors offer a wealth of information and guidance to students making their degree plans.
Academic Advisor
The School of Science and Computer Engineering (SCE) has two academic advisors serving its programs, Ms. Barbara Coleman and Ms. Dorothy Hogg.
The academic advisor:
-
Assigns a faculty advisor for an incoming student
-
Helps students prepare a draft CPS
-
Helps students choose proper courses
-
Audits graduation
They also assist prospective students for their applications and check their application status. It is very important for the incoming students to see their faculty and academic advisors as soon as possible and set up their CPS in the first semester.
Both academic advisors are in SCE’s Dean’s Office in Bayou Building ( Room 3611). They can be reached at: sceadvising@uhcl.edu. Visit the SCE’s advising page for more information. |

Faculty AdvisorThe current faculty advisors for the Chemistry Program are:
A faculty advisor helps students:
- Choose elective courses at UHCL (see the curriculums for our Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs)
- Set up a Candidate Plan of Studies (CPS)
- Make changes in their CPS
Students can also seek advice from faculty advisors on their study plans, course schedules, and career objectives.
Your letter of acceptance may specify your faculty advisor. If not, contact the academic advisors to assign a faculty advisor, then e-mail the faculty advisor to set up an appointment.
