Orientation for International students: August 20, 2009
General Orientation for All students: August 22, 2009
New Student Orientation
Academic Advisors will cover such topics as:
“When will I know I've been accepted into my academic program?”
“How do I establish my degree plan, and what is a CPS anyway?”
“Can I change my major? What is the process, and what are the implications on coursework I've already completed?”
“Is there any way I can try to get a class for which I can't enroll myself? (i.e. Filled Class, Controlled Class, override credit hour limits, etc.)”
“Can I transfer graduate credit into my UHCL master's degree plan? Can I transfer upper-level credit into my UHCL bachelor's degree plan?”
“Who approves what?”
You will have plenty of time to ask questions, so take notes!
Registration Advising
During registration periods you may see an Academic Advisor without making an appointment. We recommend making appointments, however. Advisors give priority to those who have made an appointment.
If you are a graduate student, you may seek the advice of a faculty member; contact your faculty advisor (your SCE acceptance letter contains the contact information). If you have not been accepted into a program yet, you may refer to the directory of SCE faculty included in your orientation packet.
Fall Open Registration and Fee Payment deadline is Friday, August 21st at NOON.
Fall Late Registration/Drop/Add: August 22-31. Late Registration Fee Payment Deadline, September 1st at 6:00 pm.
