The Campus Recreation program is dedicated to providing students an opportunity to develop a healthier and happier lifestyle. We offer diverse and dynamic recreational programming and facilities in order to meet the needs of our students and create a fun and connected University Community. Through these offerings, we will strive to teach students the importance of exercise and recreational activities in preparation for a productive, balanced and rewarding life. We are currently housed in the Fitness Zone on the second floor of the SSCB.

Fitness Zone Policies

  1. Children under 16 years of age are not allowed in the facility at any time.
  2. All patrons must have a towel larger than a wash cloth to use the Fitness Zone. The towel must be visible at all times.
  3. Proper athletic attire is required. Workout clothes that fully cover the chest must be worn. Shirts are required at all times. Any attire with buttons, rivets, or zippers is NOT permitted.
  4. Soft-soled, closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn. Open-toed, open-heeled shoes and sandals are not permitted.
  5. Food and beverages are not allowed with the exception of water in plastic bottles. Glass containers are not allowed.  Chewing gum is prohibited.
  6. Personal belongings must be kept in a locker. Day use lockers are available at no additional cost. The Fitness Zone is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  7. Tobacco of any kind is prohibited. Please refer to Student Life Policies Handbook for more information.
  8. Only authorized Fitness Zone Staff may provide personal training services.
  9. Video or photography with any type of camera is prohibited unless permission has been given by the Assistant Director of Student Life, Recreation and Fitness and waiver(s) is/are signed.
  10. Please report any equipment problems, injuries or incidents to the Fitness Zone staff.
  11. All equipment must be used in the manner for which it is designed.
  12. Patrons must wipe down machines when finished.
  13. All patrons are required to re-rack their weights – barbells, dumbbells and plates – when they are no longer in use. When weight lifting, user must be able to control the weights.
  14. No banging or dropping of weights.
  15. Spotters are recommended for all overhead lifts. Fitness Zone Staff may spot only if they feel comfortable assisting.
  16. Vulgarity or inappropriate comments of any type are prohibited.
  17. Cell phone use while on any piece of equipment is not permitted.
