Take a stand against violence and abuse by giving your time to participate in one of our programs - to help support the journey to peace. There are a variety of capacities for volunteers to serve, such as: Translators, Interpreters, Hotline Assistant, Clerical, Special Projects, Community Awareness and more. Orientation sessions are held throughout the year for those who wish to share their time and talents in special projects, direct services and prevention activities.

Bay Area Turning Point, Inc. is looking for volunteers for a Marketing and Events Committee. Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Education and Events Coordinator develop marketing materials
- Maintain a positive working relationship with staff and other volunteers
- Facilitate assertiveness workshops
- Conduct environment assessments
- Conduct follow up services via phone and e-mail
This committee needs individuals who are energetic, flexible, and are interested in grassroots marketing endeavors.
Additionally, there is an opportunity to take on a leadership position as Chairman. The individual to fill this position would be expected to:
- Develop and keep materials current
- Communicate and coordinate awareness events and “blitz” marketing functions
- Attend BATP events/functions including committee meetings
- Assist with newsletter development
- Network with/engage other resources, to progress the goal of the Education and Events Department
- Promote positive relations on behalf of the agency and its clients

Compassionate Care Hospice is looking for volunteers to lend their time and talents in several different capacities such as: Companionship, Spirituality, Household Tasks, Bereavement, Office Work and Pet Therapy. Hospice is an approach to healthcare that is specifically designed to support the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those who have life-limiting illnesses or conditions.

Seasonal Clothing Donations for Open Gate Homeless Youth Donation Drive: August 16th - November 1st 2009
The Open Gate Youth Ministry of Bering Memorial United Methodist Church is currently in need of seasonal clothing and toiletries for disadvantaged and homeless youth in the Montrose area. A donation box will be available in the Fellowship Hall of Bering Memorial United Methodist Church beginning August 16th, 2009.

Hawthorne is a weekly family style dinner that organizes every Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Youth will be engaging in volunteer-facilitated discussions in an atmosphere of radical acceptance, reconciliation and inclusion. This family style dinner provides a place where 18 – 24 year old marginalized homeless youth can visit with peers and discuss topics of importance to them at a safe and secure site. Marginalized homeless youth include: youth who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgender and have experienced mistreatment due to their circumstance; youth who have fallen victim to gang violence and victimization; and youth who are at high risk of exposure to substance abuse and gang recruitment.
