UHCL drafted a series of articulation agreements (transfer plans) with local community colleges. These agreements guide students to recommended coursework that will help them transfer into UHCL programs. This information helps students who attend local community colleges to know what courses to take in preparation for transfer (and which courses they can expect to take at UHCL once they transfer). This way, students know from the beginning what courses to take and what to expect when they transfer to UHCL.

UHCL has expanded this concept to "Guaranteed Transfer Plans" for students attending those colleges who want to participate in the program. Students may work with the counseling offices at those institutions to facilitate their transfer. The 2 +2 Plans are available to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students
