Any changes made by the University of Houston-Clear Lake or the State of Texas in interpreting the rulings on certification may supercede the requirements of this plan. Candidates pay undergraduate tuition and fees for courses taken toward this Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification.

Content Area Courses (0-24 hours):Overall 2.5 GPA required in content area courses
If Content Area State Assessment is NOT passed on FIRST attempt, then the following will be required:¹ English (6 hours) WRIT 3037 – Advanced Writing or LITR 4031 – Principles of Composition LITR 3631 – Shakespeare Mathematics (3 hours) MATH 3037 – Fundamentals of Informal Geometry and Statistical Analysis Science (9 upper-level hours, with one course from each area) Biology (BIOL) Earth Science (GEOL) Physics/Chemistry (PHYS/CHEM/ASTR) Social Studies (6 hours, with one course from each area) Geography – GEOG 3137, 4030, 4032 or 4033 History – HIST 3230, 3331, 3332, 3334, 4035, 4036, 4037, 4038, 4133, 4137, 4138, 4139, 4230, or 4333 READING COURSES (6 hours)* LLLS 4435 – Survey of Children’s Literature (F/Sp/Su) LLLS 4531 – Reading in Content Subjects (F/Sp/Su)

Pedagogy (12 hours): Admission to TEP required and 3.0 GPA required in Pedagogy courses (offered Fall/Spring only)
Internship Experiences:
Option 1:	TCED 4738 – Preservice Internship I (every Wednesday in the public school) and TCED 4798 – Preservice Internship II (every day in the public school)
Option 2:	Successful completion of the UHCL Alternative Certification Program (ACP) TCED 4768 – ACP Internship I TCED 4769 – ACP Internship II

¹If required, a minimum of 12 hours of Content courses must be taken at UHCL ²Pre-requisite is MATH 3037. Student may be eligible to test out of pre-requisite course. Contact Math Department for information. ³Candidates not passing the State Assessments by the final semester of this plan must enroll in and successfully complete this course. Candidates passing the State Assessments by the final semester of this plan will have this course waived.
