Financial Aid and Scholarships

Students in need of financial aid information should contact the Office of Student Financial Aid by phone (281-283-2480) or by email (uhcl_fao@uhcl.edu). Be sure to let them know that you are applying to or enrolled in the doctoral program. The deadline for applying for priority financial aid from the University is April 1.

There are scholarships available specifically for new and continuing students in the doctoral program. The School of Education will provide scholarship information to all students admitted to the program. Continuing students must apply for doctoral scholarships by April 1. For more information about doctoral program scholarships, contact David Benz , School of Education Director of Student Relations, at 281-283-3600 or benzda@uhcl.edu.

Graduate Assistantships (GAs)

For students in the EdD Program, three graduate assistantship are available during the yearlong academic period from September to August. Graduate students work an average of 15 hours/week on teaching, research, and service assignments for $16,000/year (not benefits qualified). Those interested must submit (a) an application form, (b) one-page letter outlining why you are pursuing a GA position and (c) a current résumé or curriculum vitae. Request/send information to: Dr. Lawrence T. Kajs, Chair, EdD Program, University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058-1098. Email address is kajs@uhcl.edu. If selected for a graduate assistantship position, other UHCL forms will need to be completed. Information must be received by June 1st for the following academic year.
