Doctoral Program Costs
Completing a doctoral program represents a significant commitment of time and resources. Total costs for the program will vary considerably depending on a variety of factors, such as tuition and fee rates, pace at which a student completes the program, books and other materials, childcare, transportation, etc. Applicants should consider carefully the time and resources that will be required to complete the program.
Typically, the most significant expense associated with program completion is tuition and fees. Tuition and fees rates are approved by the University of Houston System Board of Regents in the spring of each year, to take effect the following fall. Since these rates change from year to year, it is not possible to specify what rates will be in the future. Rates for the 2006-2007 academic year, the year that the first cohort of students will be entering the program, have been approved and are reported below for the cost of taking three, six, nine or twelve hours of coursework for resident students. There also is a Differentiated Designated Tuition of $20 per credit-hour charge for doctoral-level courses. These tuition and fee rates will be in effect for the spring semester and summer of 2007.
