In order to fulfill principal certification requirements, students must successfully complete the 39-hours of master of science degree course work in educational management. Students must also have a valid Texas Teaching Certificate, two years of successful full-time classroom teaching in an approved accredited school and a passing score on the appropriate Principal State Assessment.

UH-Clear Lake graduates of this program have cited major benefits, such as faculty excellence, state and national accreditations, and high pass rates on the State TExES exam. According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Elementary of School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, more than half the school principals in the United States will be eligible for retirement in a few years leaving the door wide open for graduates of the educational management program.

So that we may provide more convenient locations for our busy students, access to a complete program of course work toward principal certification is now available at San Jacinto College North, UH System Center at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Taylor High School in Alief Independent School District, and Alvin Community College, along with the program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus.
