The course of study for the UHCL Master’s of Science in Instructional Design and Technology degree prepares graduates to be leaders in the analysis, design, development and implementation of instruction. Our alumni work in higher education and the training departments of governmental and private agencies. We also have a long history of preparing leaders of technology programs for K-12 schools and school districts.

In addition, many of our graduates continue on for their doctoral studies at leading universities.

Our 36-credit course of study is offered completely online. However, when requested, cohorts can be formed for a web-enhanced/face-to-face hybrid instructional environment.

We also offer certificates in Distance Education (9 hours) and Performance Technology (12 hours).

Our faculty members are noted as academic leaders in distance education, instructional technology administration, performance technology, and related research. Their publications are found in a wide variety of journals and they frequently make presentations at academic and professional conferences around the United States.

The faculty also produces the podcast series Technology and Education Today. Guest speakers who are leaders in the fields of educational technology and instructional design keep the series’ audience informed of innovative developments of technology use in education and training.
