The University of Houston-Clear Lake Instructional Design and Technology faculty are noted as leaders in distance education, instructional technology administration, performance technology, and research. They are published in a wide variety of journals and frequently make presentations at academic and professional conferences around the United States. They edit instructional technology and design journals as well as, serve on, and chair, professional association committees.
Graduates of our program have found employment with organizations such as NASA, Tietronix, BP, Barrios Technology, the University of St. Thomas, and the Irving Independent School District. Quite a number of our graduates have gone on for doctoral study in instructional technology, instructional design, or distance education.
The Instructional Design and Technology program is an approved provider of both basic and advanced teacher training for the Texas Virtual School Network.
Since 2005, the instructional technology faculty has produced the podcast series Technology and Education Today. Leaders in educational technology and instructional design regularly appear as guests on the series. The series has and have kept its audience informed of successful developments and applications of technology in education and training.
In addition, the Instructional Design and Technology Program maintains communication with program students and graduates through its Facebook page. Notice of important program events are transmitted through the Facebook page as well information on new job openings.
Our program is usually taken totally online, however face-to-face cohorts can be arranged.
