Late Submissions Posted Past Due Date
Development of a portfolio that demonstrates achievement of INST program ACET/ECIT & IBSPTI standards takes significant time and effort. In turn, the INST faculty must have sufficient time to properly evaluate an e-portfolio. Therefore, student e-portfolios posted past the specified due dates will NOT be accepted for evaluation for ANY reason and will be evaluated during the following academic term.
Conduct First E-Portfolio Review
Your faculty advisor must approve your e-portfolio for you to qualify and register for your capstone experience. To gain approval, your work samples must demonstrate sufficient progress toward achievement of the INST program ACET/ECIT & IBSPTI standards . Sufficient progress is defined as proficient or better rating on at least 9 of the 12 standards. It is reasoned that you will have sufficient opportunity during your capstone experience to increase your skills and knowledge in several areas if necessary. Thus, by adding work completed during your capstone experience and any remaining courses, you should be able to demonstrate that you are at least proficient in all ACET/ IBSPTI standards when you submit your portfolio for final review toward the end of your capstone experience.
Obtain INST Faculty Advisor Approval
Your faculty advisor will be comparing your e-portfolio to the INST program ACET/ IBSPTI standards and corresponding assessment rubrics. Specifically, your advisor will be evaluating your work samples and reading your narrative description to determine if you have demonstrated exemplary, proficient or unsatisfactory performance on each of ACET/ECIT and IBSPTI standards as defined by each assessment rubric (please note: An exemplary rating on one or more standards does not mean you can be considered "unsatisfactory" in any of the standards). Your advisor will combine his/her assessment of your portfolio with input and insights gained during your meeting and will evaluate your work as:
- Approved
- Approved with some revisions required
- Not approved.
If approved, you qualify and can register for your capstone experience and you do not have to conduct a second e-portfolio review prior to your capstone completion. If you are approved with some revisions required, you also qualify and can register for your capstone experience, but you are expected to make the recommended revisions. It is the discretion of your INST faculty advisor whether or not you must conduct a final e-portfolio review after you have completed all revisions of your e-portfolio prior to completing your capstone experience. If you are not approved, you must revise your portfolio based on your faculty advisor's comments and schedule another e-portfolio review before you can register and enroll for your master's project, thesis or internship.
Obtain Faculty Advisor's Signature
You must obtain your faculty advisor's signature to qualify and register for your thesis, project or internship. As long as you make an informal presentation of your portfolio in the required timeframe (as well as successfully complete all course requirements with a B or better GPA), you will qualify for your Capstone experience. The primary purpose of the portfolio is to help you and your advisor identify strengths and weakness to guide your professional development. It is NOT meant to stop you from completing your capstone or from graduating.
