Academic Coaching Request

We're here to to help students develop necessary skill sets so they can be successful in their course requirements at UHCL.  Academic Coaching helps students gain skills in areas like:

  • Academic reading
  • Note-taking
  • Organization
  • Task management
  • Critical thinking
  • Oral expression

Who Can Request an Academic Coach

  1. Students can request a tailored Academic Coaching program for themselves.
  2. Faculty members, or a members of Student Services or Academic Advising, can refer a student.

What Happens After a Request

Upon receipt of an Academic Coaching request, the Student Success Center schedules an intake appointment with the student. Faculty or staff referrers may opt to participate in the intake. Once accepted into the program, an Academic Coach develops a support plan based on the student's current courses and academic needs.

Submit Academic Coaching Request

Within two business days of receiving this request, the Student Success Center contacts the student to set up an in-take appointment. The faculty or staff referrer is included in the intake meeting if she/he has opted in.
