Academic Coaching Request

We're here to to help students develop necessary skill sets so they can be successful in their course requirements at UHCL. Academic Coaching helps students gain skills in areas like:

  • Academic reading
  • Note-taking
  • Organization
  • Task management
  • Critical thinking
  • Test Strategy
  • Public speaking

Who Can Request an Academic Coach

  1. Students can request a tailored Academic Coaching program for themselves.
  2. Faculty can refer a student by emailing

What Happens After a Request

Upon receipt of an Academic Coaching request, the Student Success Center schedules an intake appointment with the student. Faculty or staff referrers may opt to participate in the intake. An Academic Coach develops a support plan based on the student's current courses and academic needs.

Within two business days of receiving this request, the Student Success Center contacts the student to set up an in-take appointment. Please contact us at 281-283-2643 if you have any questions or concerns.

State law requires that you be informed of the following:

  1. With few exceptions, you are entitled on request to be informed about the information the University collects about you by use of this form.
  2. Under sections 552.021 and 552.023 of the Government Code, you are entitled to receive and review the information.
  3. Under section 559.004 of the Government Code, you are entitled to have the University correct information about you that is incorrect.
