The University of Houston-Clear Lake Office of University Advancement (UA) exists to provide professional visionary guidance and leadership to the university in the areas of development, alumni and community relations, and communications. UA provides a collaborative, partnership-oriented approach with internal and external audiences including faculty, staff, students, alumni, stakeholders, donors and community members. UA strives to enhance the image of the university, to enlist and engage constituents, and to communicate clearly, concisely and efficiently as it also garners resources and provides stewardship to donors and stakeholders. All UA business operations reflect the university's commitment to: respect and celebrate all people, embrace the potential of change through education, and embody the fulfillment of learning and discovery.
The Office of Development and Planned Giving supports the mission of the university through cultivating relationships with alumni, students, faculty and university friends. The creation of these vital partnerships paves the way for new scholarships, endowments, and support for academic opportunities. Development staff members facilitate contributions by individuals, foundations and corporations by helping donors establish their own philanthropic goals while meeting university- and program-specific needs. The office also oversees the university's Annual Fund and Planned Giving program, in addition to various stewardship programs that recognize how each donor's support furthers the development of the university and Houston-Galveston region.
The Office of Alumni and Community Relations focuses on building meaningful relationships with alumni and the community through an array of events and outreach initiatives. Alumni Relations programs include coordination of general alumni activities as well as oversight of the UHCL Alumni Association. The purpose of the UHCL Alumni Association is to contact, engage, serve, empower and acknowledge alumni through programming, services, events and outreach. All UHCL graduates and recipients of teacher’s certificates are automatically members of the UHCL Alumni Association – no dues necessary. Members of the UHCL Alumni Association have access to the entire family of alumni, plus a host of great benefits.
The Office of Communications promotes university relations by communicating UHCL news, information and messages to key university constituents. Communications staff members provide a broad range of services in the areas of media relations, social media, publications, online publishing projects and institutional identity. In addition to producing and distributing an average of 30 news releases every month, the office produces UHCL's bi-annual magazine, Egret, and the university's Donor Honor Roll. It also coordinates general institutional advertising in an array of business, community and news organizations' communication vehicles. Additionally, the office works with its sister institutions on system-wide marketing communications initiatives.
