What's Your Status?

When someone calls you and you don’t answer the phone, do they know if you are on campus or not?  How could they know?  If you use the many greetings available on PhoneMail, you can let the people know your status.

As you call around campus, think of the number of people who have not recorded their greetings.  If you're trying to reach someone, it would be nice to know if they are in the office.  It would be nice to know if they are on vacation that there may be someone else that can help you.   If they didn’t record their greetings you won’t know.

Think about what you would like to know if you call someone--are they in the office, but just away from their desk or are they out of office for two weeks?  That would be good to know!  Any information to let you know if you are going to get the help you need would be great.

When you call someone and they haven’t recorded their greeting, leave them a friendly reminder to do so.
