UHCL WiFi Networks
UCT offers the University community and guests a new wireless network which will provide access to Internet browsing without requiring a username and password.
Connecting to the UHCLPublic Wi-Fi Network
By selecting the UHCLPublic wireless network and accepting the alert message displayed (see below), you will be connected directly to the Internet.This is a non-encrypted wireless connection that will only provide access to Internet browsing. No access will be provided to other UHCL computing services, e.g. printing or file-shares.
UHCL Public Wireless
Information transmitted over this public wireless network may be visible to other online users. Entering passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, banking data or other personally identifiable information is not recommended. UHCL is not liable for the possible loss of private information transmitted over this public network.
By clicking “Accept” below you acknowledge that you are on a public wireless network with no encryption. If you wish to configure your machine for a more secure wireless network at UHCL, please visit the UCT Support Center in B2300.
Connecting to the UHCLPrivate Wi-Fi Network
The UHCLPrivate network is available only to students, faculty, and staff. This is an encrypted, authenticated network that requires use of your UHCL network login for access. You will use your domain\user id and password combination to login.
- For all UHCL faculty and staff the domain is UHCL (e.g. UHCL\username).
- For all students, the domain is PCLAB. (e.g. PCLAB\username)
UHCLPrivate Wi-Fi Network settings:
- SSID: UHCLPrivate
- Authentication Method: WPA or WPA2-Enterprise (depending on availability on your Wi-Fi enabled device).
- Data Encryption: TKIP or AES (AES is preferred.)
- Other Settings: Uncheck box for validating the server certificate and do not authenticate using Windows login account or as guest.
