Laptop Checkout

As a service to our current students, UHCL’s UCT department provides laptops with wireless internet connections that are available for checkout without charge. These laptops are configured indentically, and are available at four locations on the UHCL campus:

• The UCT Support Center - Bayou Building, Room 2300
• The UCT Acadmic Computing Open Labs
  • Bayou Building, Room 3608
  • Delta Building, Room 205
  • Student Services and Classroom Building (SSCB), Room 2201
  • Pearland Campus, Room 104

Rules and procedures

To obtain a laptop, please adhere to the following procedure:

• Present your current UHCL ID to the staff at the desk at any one of our four locations for laptop checkout.
• Read and sign the UCT laptop checkout User Agreement form, making certain you provide a contact phone number.
• Login to the laptop using your valid UHCL login name and password, and make certain all programs/settings are available and working.

Other rules and information regarding laptop checkout:

• Laptop checkout is limited, so checkouts will occur on a first come first serve basis.
• Your UHCL ID is kept until the return of the laptop.
• Laptop checkouts are for on-campus use only.
• Laptops are checked out for 3 hours, or the life of the battery (whichever comes first).
• The student is responsible for the laptop up to the full purchase price, if damaged, lost, or stolen (Current replacement cost is $2,200).
• Failure to return laptop on time, left unattended, or to comply with established rules and guidelines can and will result in loss of laptop checkout privileges. 
• The UHCL wireless network is available in all four classroom buildings: Arbor, Bayou, Delta, and the SSCB.
