UHCL Administrative Software Information

University Computing and Telecommunications provides support for a variety of desktop software products for Windows and Macintosh environments. Products fall into three broad categories; Recommended/Supported, Acceptable and Specialty.
Recommended/Supported Software
The University will provide the following software, UCT will install and provide support on the following packages. Training will be provided as time and personnel are available.

If a machine has an older version of an Operating System, then it is recommended that the customer should purchase the latest Operating System version that meets the University’s security requirements.
Acceptable Software
The following software packages must be purchased by the customer’s department or school. UCT will install and may provide occasional training and support on these packages as time and personnel are available.

3 Adobe Creative Suite can be purchased in six different packages: CS3 Design – Premium or Standard, CS3 Web – Premium or Standard, CS3 Production Premium or CS3 Master Collection. Depending on the version of CS3 package purchased the following software could be included: InDesign CS3, Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator CS3, Acrobat 8 Professional, Flash CS3 Professional, Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, Contribute CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Premiere Pro CS3, Soundbooth CS3, Encore CS3, Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, Device Central CS3, Stock Photos, Acrobat Connect, Dynamic Link, OnLocations CS3 (Windows only), Ultra CS3, (Windows only).
4 The current license price for SAS is $70.00.
5 The current license price for SPSS is $38.00 for a PC, $109.00 for a Mac
6 Microsoft Access application is provided by the University
7 FrontPage is now SharePoint Designer 2007. SharePoint Designer 2007entitles you to older versions that includes FrontPage.
Specialty Software
Installation will be provided when personnel are available on any software not listed above. Training and support are not provided for any specialty software as UCT may not have the expertise needed to assist on any given software product other then the recommended products. All non-recommended software must be purchased by the Schools or Department. Original media, documentation and a purchase request or the original receipt must be provided for any non-supported software as UCT adheres to all licensing agreements.
