Microsoft Home Use Program now available

  As part of our campus license agreement with Microsoft, their Home Use Program (HUP) is available to UHCL faculty and staff.  This program enables you to purchase online a licensed copy of most Microsoft Office desktop applications to install and use on your home computer for both work and personal use.  A fulfillment fee plus applicable tax will be charged for each licensed application ordered to cover the costs of packaging, shipping, handling and program administration.

  Please note, UHCL no longer participates in the Work At Home Program (WAH) that allowed faculty and staff to receive Microsoft Office desktop applications through UCT’s Support Center for UHCL work related purposes only.  The Home Use Program is an enhancement allowing UHCL faculty and staff to acquire Microsoft licensed software for both work and personal uses.

  For each product eligible for the Home Use Program for which you are a licensed user with active Software Assurance coverage, you may order a single copy of that product to install and use on a home computer. You may continue using this HUP software while you are a UHCL employee and as long as the software you use at work has active Software Assurance coverage. Setup and installation support is provided by Microsoft for software purchased through the Home Use Program. Please refer to the support documentation included with your product for more information.  Please note that some product and language versions may not be available at the time you place an order. To access the Microsoft Home Use Program web site, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to https://hup.microsoft.com/
2. Select the country to which you wish your order to be shipped to and choose the language for viewing the order web site.
3. Enter your UCHL e-mail address and insert UHCL’s program code.
   Note: Our program code is assigned to our organization for our sole use in accessing this site. You may not share this number with anyone outside our organization. To obtain this code, please contact the Support Center. This code is not available to students.
4. Place your order on-line and it will be shipped to the location you have chosen. Please note that a fulfillment fee will be charged to cover packaging, shipping and handling costs.

Interested faculty and staff that would like a copy of ArcGIS must complete the request form  The request forms are available at the Help Desk in B2300.  The completed form is to be turned in at the Support Center.  Please allow at least two working days for processing of your request.  You will be notified via e-mail when your CDs are ready.

• McAfee ViruScan

InformationTechnology at the University of Houston is please to announce the purchase of a two-year University of Houston System-wide site license for McAfee Total Defense Suite for Windows, Macintosh, and Unix platforms as well as a variety of server security tools.  All faculty, staff, and students in the University of Houston System are covered under this contract.  Go to the Information Technology webpage at UH website for more information.  On this page there is a link to the UH McAfee site license page where you can download the software. 

If you are downloading from on campus, no password is required.  If you are downloading from off campus a generic password is required.  Once you click on the download button, you’ll see the required password.
