How to Stay Healthy
Eat well and eat regularly. Ensure that liquid intake (especially water) is adequate.
Sleep well. It's important to get 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night
Avoid people who are sick. If you must be around sick people (in class, roommates, etc...) wash your hands frequently and avoid sharing eating utensils, cups and other personal items with them.
Seek healthcare when necessary. Don't wait until you are too sick to come to the health center. At the first sign of sickness, consult one of our nurses.
Avoid accidents and injuries. Most injuries are preventable. Abstain from engaging in dangerous activities.
Avoid sunburns and insect bites. Use sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher when outside for prolonged periods of time. Also use an insect repellant when in areas where there is a higher risk of insect bites (i.e. wooded areas, around marshy areas, etc...).
Maintian good hygiene. Take time everyday for regular hygiene and self-care activities. Balance work/school responsibilities with relaxation and recreation.
Wear seat belts and bike helmets. It's the law and responsible thinking.
Don't smoke. Avoid areas with heavy smoke (some areas of campus, bars, etc...).
Alcohol in moderation only. Never drink and drive.
