Wine and Dine on a Dime

Spring break is next week.  Students want to enjoy their time off with some great food and beverages; but with the economy in recession and food and drink prices so high its hard to completely enjoy your break without breaking the bank.  Not to worry; you can enjoy many restaurants in the area for a reasonable amount of money.
Here are a couple of local area restaurants and bars that offer special deals on their meals and drinks.
Saltgrass Steak House on I-45 in Clear Lake offers happy hour specials Monday-Friday from 3-7 p.m. including half-price appetizers when you sit in the bar area.
“Our happy hour is $1 off all adult beverages throughout the restaurant,” said Jennifer Nguyen, a hostess at Saltgrass in Clear Lake. “Half price appetizers at the bar, and $1.50 draft beers.”
Heads N Tails in Kemah on Marina Bay Drive has a ton of specials throughout the week.  Every day they offer $4.99 per pound of crawfish $12 buckets.  Happy hour is Monday-Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. with $3 well drinks, $3 shots, $3 glasses of wine and $2.25 domestic longnecks.  Live bands play every night.
Monday is steak night for $5.99 and include a salad.  Tuesdays are all-you-can-eat fried shrimp for $9.95 as well as $2 Tuesdays, which is $2.99 per pound of crawfish, $2.50 well drinks and $2.25 domestic beers. Wednesdays are all-you-can-eat boiled shrimp for $14.95.  On Sundays, until 7 p.m., they have $2 Bloody Marys and they also have Mimosas.
“We have half-off fajitas for two, they’re $17.99,” said Cesar Barcamontes, a manager of the Cadillac Bar in Kemah.  “Of course, for alcoholic beverages, we have happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m.”
The half-off fajitas for two are offered every Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. and happy hour offers $.50 to $1.50 off all alcoholic beverages.
The Main Event in Webster may not be what you think of when you think of food and drinks, but they offer some great deals for college students plus you get to play games for half off or free.  For every large pizza you buy, you get a free $10 game card to use on the many arcade games Monday through Thursday.  College bowl is on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to midnight.  Show your college ID to get half-price Laser Jam Bowling and billiards; you also get a free $10 game card.
Boondoggle’s, in Seabrook off Nasa Road 1, will offer one pound snow crab; for $12.95, one dozen cold boiled shrimp for $7.95 and one pound of crawfish for $5.95 on Thursday, March 19 starting at 6 p.m.until they run out.
Hooters offers Wingsday Wednesdays with 10 boneless wings platter with fries for $5.99.
Bayou City Wings on Fuqua offers Tuesday Two Fer!  This is where you get double the wings for regular price.
These places are offering some amazing deals for food and drinks.  It shouldn’t be too hard to enjoy a great meal and cold beverage without diminishing your bank account.  Go out there and enjoy your spring break but remember to be safe especially if you are enjoying the drink specials I mentioned above.  Always have a designated driver.
