Make Romance a Part of Your Spring Break
By Derek Calhoun
It can be difficult at times to come up with new and inventive ideas about where to go or what to do in regard to taking your woman on a date, but remember, its the little things we do that mean the most.Unfortunately, some of us this spring break cannot afford to take our lady on a luxurious trip or meet the expense of traveling outside the confines of Houston, but there are other alternatives.
With this in mind, there is an array of inexpensive ideas a young man can utilize in making plans with his lady during this spring break.
A simple walk on Galveston beach to watch the sunset on the distant horizon or a stroll down the Kemah Boardwalk on a moonlit night are ideas that will cost a man nothing but his time.
Furthermore, planning a basic picnic (we can all make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) at a park in or around the Houston area will make a woman not only appreciate the fact that you prepared a meal for her, but that you took the time to plan such a romantic occasion. Such parks as League Park and Walter Hall Park are convenient places to visit, or you can venture into Houston and enjoy the peaceful settings of Sesquicentennial Park, Sam Houston Park, Discovery Green Park and Buffalo Bayou ArtPark.
In addition, an unexpected gift such as a rose or a card whose words reveal your heart is a wonderful way to leave a lasting impression.
“A man doesn’t have to spend a lot of money to show he really appreciates a woman,” said Jackie Spangler, a massage therapist in the Galleria area.
For those individuals who have the opportunity to do much more for their ladies this spring break, possibilities could range from accompanying her to a movie of her choice to treating her to an extravagant dinner. There are a host of fine dining restaurants throughout the Clear Lake and Houston area. Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille and Chabuca’s International Grill are located in Clear Lake; otherwise, Houston restaurants such as the Mockingbird Bistro Wine Bar, Churrascos, Americas and Vargo’s Restaurant are just a few to consider when planning a special evening out with your significant other.
Keep in mind, Kemah and Seabrook offer a variety of romantic charters throughout the spring break week, where couples have the chance to relax on an afternoon sail or experience the romance of a sunset cruise on Galveston Bay.
One such charter, Tropical Express, is reasonably priced at $24-$29 per person; you and your companion can take pleasure in sailing on a modern replica of a 19th century topsail schooner. Information is available on their Web site at www.tropicalexpress.com.
Another local business operated by Bob Edwards and his wife Katherine promises the very best in sailing. Their company, Windsong Charters, has catered to Morgan Freeman and other groups including film producers and CEOs from corporate America.
“No other boat can offer what Windsong offers within 500 miles and that’s a guarantee,” Edwards promised.
Windsong Charters have countless cruise packages, but the least costly is a day cruise, which totals $350 per couple. For more information you can visit their Web site at www.windsong-charters.com.
Regardless of the choice that’s made for this spring break, don’t forget, it’s the small things that can touch a woman’s heart in a big way.
