Online Tutoring: E-mail, Chat, and Phone Sessions
Our Center for Online Tutoring (COLT) offers many of the same opportunities for help with your writing as our in-person conferences. Online tutoring is provided via e-mail, phone, and our instant messenger chat feature.
Step 1: Read Important information for first-time users.
Step 2: Request an online tutoring session by completing our COLT form.
Step 3: Send your Word document as an attachment in an email to writingcenter@uhcl.edu
Step 4: (For IM chat sessions only) Download AIM Pro software and read Instructions for Use.
What tutors will do:
-
Read your submitted paper
-
Answer specific questions
-
Comment on the rhetorical aspects of your work
-
Point out patterns of error
-
Spend up to 45 minutes responding to your paper
-
NOTE: Tutors will not point out every error or "fix" every mistake; if you would like help learning editing strategies, please schedule an in-person appointment. Papers submitted via COLT cannot be more than 7 pages; for help with longer works, e-mail us for more information.
