CSCI 5531: Advanced Operating Systems Prerequisites: CSCI 4534, familiarity with C and UNIX system calls. Study of current methodologies used in the design of distributed operating systems including issues related to the design of distributed file systems, interprocess communication and synchronization facilities, process, processor and memory management within the context of distributed operating systems. Case studies and review of current literature. Basic introduction to network programming and its application to the design of a simplified component of a distributed operating system. Laboratory instruction.
