Welcome from the Provost

University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) is an incredible institution focused on and committed to student success. Approximately half of our incoming students each year are first-generation college students, and the university is designated as both a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and a Minority Serving Institution (MSI). We are proud of our diverse campus and firmly believe we offer a supportive university community where every student can feel a sense of belonging and will have the tools and support needed to succeed. Our commitment to fostering an environment that supports all communities is not just something we say; it energizes and drives everything we do.

UH-Clear Lake has a unique history that continues to inform our path forward. Situated in a nature preserve adjacent to NASA Johnson Space Center, UHCL was created to meet a vital demand for trained engineers, physicists, and mathematicians to join the U.S. space program. Today, UHCL has developed into a vibrant and growing campus with signature programs now also offered in locations at Pearland and at the Texas Medical Center. UHCL is nationally ranked and regionally-focused, offering more than 70 undergraduate degree programs and more than 50 graduate degree programs.

What all of that means is that we have a lot to offer, including a high-quality educational environment that is learner-focused! Our outstanding faculty are actively engaged in research that allows our students opportunities through experiential learning and a hands-on process of discovery.

I am confident that the robust and inclusive university environment at UHCL offers an educational experience that will not only transform the lives of our students but also the trajectory of families and our community.

Go Hawks!
