Workshop Information
  1. Get Involved! Campus Organizations and Student Leadership Opportunities

Did you know that research has shown that college students who get involved in student organizations and campus activities outside of the classroom are more likely to succeed inside the classroom? Join us for an overview about opportunities for involvement at UHCL, and learn from alumni and current student leaders how they have been able to make the most of their experience at UHCL, and how they have been able to apply skills learned from their activities in "the real world". Bonus: Students who attend this workshop will be given the Strengths Finder assessment code at the end of this session so they can participate in Discover Your Strengths.

  2. Don't Just Break the Ice, Melt It!

Get to know other UHCL students in this fun, interactive workshop! Student Life Office staff will lead participants in "get to know you" icebreakers and team-builders. You are guaranteed to leave this session with an increased network!

  3. Sneak Peak into The National Society of Leadership and Success

The National Society of Leadership and Success is an organization that helps people discover and achieve their goals. The Society offers life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters and a community where like-minded success oriented individuals come together and help one another succeed. The Society also serves as a powerful force of good in the greater community by encouraging and organizing action to better the world. The UHCL Student Chapter of NSLS is one of the most active and diverse student organizations at UHCL. During this session, current NSLS members will talk about the "NSLS Experience" and you will also get to see one of our Fall 2015 Speaker Broadcasts.

  4. Discover Your Strengths: The Keys to Becoming an Effective Leader

Pre-requisite: Must attend Aug 8 session to take Strengths Finder in order to participate in this session.
People who are aware of their talents and can develop them into strengths are more likely to be successful in all avenues in their lives: from academics, career, relationships, leadership and in life. Do you want to fully live in tune with your natural talents by building and using your strengths? Those who do report increased confidence and optimism as they become aware of, affirm and celebrate their talents. The development and application of you strengths can generate a feeling that you are fulfilling your personal destiny. This can produce enormous satisfaction and enhance the quality of your life. Based on the best-selling book "Now Discover Your Strengths" by Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton.
