Orientation and New Student Programs (ONSP) serves as a bridge to university life
for new students, families, and friends through programs and initiatives designated
to help students engage in developmental learning and transition to UHCL.
Only admitted students can register for Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR)
or Transfer Student Orientation (TSO).
January 2017 sessions are for all new students beginning in Spring 2017.
First-Year Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR)
Students eligible to register for SOAR sessions must, at the time of their admission,
- Have between 0 - 29 credit hours, or
- Be entering college for the first time.
At SOAR, students meet with an academic adviser, register for classes, meet their
peers, and learn about campus resources.
SOAR January 2017 Dates
Students must attend both days of SOAR. Programs for friends and family is on day
1 of the SOAR session.
Transfer Student Orientation (TSO)
Students eligible to register for TSO (sophomores, transfers and graduates) must:
- Have 30 or more credit hours for the Spring semester.
At TSO, students are introduced to faculty and staff, new and current students, and
administrative professionals. By attending, students gain a broad overview of university
policies, expectations and available resources.
TSO January 2017 Dates
Students must stay for the entirety of their TSO session.
